It Is Never Too Late to Learn the Quran
Many adults feel embarrassed that they cannot read the Quran yet, or that their recitation still has mistakes. Islam encourages you to begin with hope instead. Allah has made His Book easy to learn and remember:
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
“And We have certainly made the Quran easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?”
Surah Al-Qamar 54:17 (Sahih International)The Prophet ﷺ also gave special encouragement to the person who finds reading difficult:
“The one who is proficient in the Quran will be with the noble and righteous scribes (the angels), and the one who recites the Quran and stumbles over it, finding it difficult, will have a double reward.”
Reported by al-Bukhari and Muslim (Sahih Muslim 798; a similar narration in Sahih al-Bukhari 4937)In other words, every effort you make as an adult learner is rewarded, in sha Allah, even before your reading becomes fluent. Many of the greatest Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), such as Abu Bakr and Umar, accepted Islam as adults and then learned the Quran from the Prophet ﷺ. He ﷺ said:
“The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it.”
Narrated by Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), Sahih al-Bukhari 5027Who Can Join Our Online Quran Classes for Adults?

Practical Tips for Adult Quran Learners
- Be consistent rather than intense. Two or three short classes a week, with a few minutes of daily review, usually works better than one long session.
- Fix a regular time. Link your practice to a daily routine, such as after Fajr or before sleeping.
- Do not be shy about mistakes. Your tutor is there to correct you. Every mistake corrected early saves months of work later.
- Use what you learn in your prayer. Reciting the surahs you have learned in Salah is the best daily revision.
- Listen to accurate recitation. Following a skilled reciter in the Mushaf trains your ear and your pronunciation.
